Nauvoo

In June the BYU Young Ambassadors spent two weeks performing in Nauvoo, Illinois. We took the opportunity to travel there for the first time. What an amazing experience it was. After making the 3 hour drive from St. Louis to Nauvoo and checking into Hotel Nauvoo late Wednesday evening we awoke early and went to the visitors center to get acquainted with the area. We took a wagon ride around Nauvoo and our senior missionary guide told us the story behind the King Follett sermon. We visited Inspiration point where Joseph Smith used to go to reflect and pray. After the wagon ride we spent some time in the Women's garden amid the beautiful bronze statues.

We drove 2 miles north of town and visited the Old Nauvoo cemetary. Most of the limestone markers were not legible. We know from the names listed in the pavillion that we had relative buried there but did not know the locations. After a bit of searching, Kevin found the restored marker for John and Mary Pincock. They are his ancestors. We were both surprised and excited that his relatives had one of the few restored markers in the cemetary. He was so excited to find a tie to Nauvoo!

YA's 40th Anniversary

Last weekend we travelled to Provo. The Young Ambassador's were performing with past alumni commerating the 40th anniversary of their group. Several alumni have performed on Broadway and did cameo performances. I loved Dallin Bayliss' rendition of "Bring Him Home" from Les Mis!! I am partial to that portion of the show anyway because it showcases Brad singing the solo "Do You Hear The People Sing" and wearing the vest I made him in high school as Enjoras!

New Year--New Goals

January is a time for renewal of goals and dreams. With the fun but hectic holidays behind us we are grateful for a chance to relax, reflect and catch our breath a bit. As the winter snows surround us we are grateful to live close to the mountains and be able to escape the valley haze and enjoy the magesty of the Wasatch and the grandeur of God's creations!
